Valencia icon named B-team boss

Valencia have appointed iconic forward Lyuboslav Penev as the new Coach of their B team on a one-year contract.

Penev returns to Valencia after scoring 101 goals in 226 appearances for the club between 1988 and 1995, which included a runners-up finish in La Liga.

‘Lubo’ also played for Atletico Madrid, Compostela and Celta Vigo in Spain, while he picked up 62 caps for Bulgaria and had a stint coaching his country.

The 50-year-old replaces another of Los Che’s former players, Curro Torres, who has since taken up employment at Lorca.

Valencia B finished eighth in Group 3 of Segunda B last season, meaning they will spend another campaign in the division.
