Vitolo describes ‘tough few days’

New Las Palmas winger Vitolo has admitted ‘it has been a tough few days’ for him and his family having left Sevilla and joined the club via Atletico Madrid.

Los Rojiblancos paid the Spain international’s release clause at the Andalucians – reported to be around €37.5m – before he immediately joined his hometown club on loan until January.

His transfer has dominated the headlines in Spain’s sporting press after Sevilla had initially announced he had signed a new five-year deal at the club, before he moved on.

"I am very happy and content," Vitolo told reporters upon arriving in Gran Canaria, as quoted by Marca.

"It has been a very tough few days for me and my family but in the end we decided to come here.

"They have a good team with great players. It's a dream to play in LaLiga with the club of my life."

Atleti are currently serving a player registration ban until January but Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez announced last week they had agreed for Vitolo to return to the club on loan until January when his deal to the capital club was processed.
