Atletico sign Sevilla’s Vitolo – report

Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Sevilla winger Vitolo, who will immediately join Las Palmas on loan, say reports in Spain.

According to Cadena Cope, Atletico have triggered the Spain international’s release clause of just under €40m to complete the deal and he has already passed his medical examination.

Los Rojiblancos president Jose Castro announced on Monday that Vitolo had agreed a new five-year contract with the club but it now appears this announcement was premature with reports suggesting this angered the 27-year-old.

Castro has since said the club have a ‘written agreement’ with the player’s father and agent, according to ABC de Sevilla, with the two club’s now reportedly in a dispute over the legal nature of the move.

Atleti are currently serving a player registration ban until January but Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez announced last week they had agreed for Vitolo to return to the club on loan until January when his deal to the capital club was processed.
