Kameni completes Fenerbahce move

Cameroon international goalkeeper Carlos Kameni has ended a five-year stint with Malaga to join Turkish giants Fenerbahce, it has been confirmed.

The 33-year-old shot-stopper has penned a three-year deal at Fener to end a 13-season spell in La Liga, where he made 335 appearances and built a reputation as a dependable stalwart.

The goalkeeper has spent the entirety of his professional career in La Liga – firstly as Espanyol’s regular goalkeeper for seven seasons before joining the Costa del Sol club in 2011, where he quickly established himself as first choice.

However, he has not played for his national side since 2015 as Sevilla Atletico goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa has been preferred, and started every game in the recent Confederation Cup.

Kameni’s move is reported to have been processed for around €2m, and his exit follows that of Guillermo Ochoa from La Rosaleda, with Espanyol goalkeeper Roberto arriving on a season-long loan deal.
