Depor’s Riera moves to Australia

Deportivo La Coruna striker Oriol Riera has left the club to join Australian side Western Sydney on a two-year deal, it has been confirmed.

The 31-year-old spent last season on loan at relegated Osasuna, where he netted four times in 22 La Liga appearances, the team from whom Depor signed him in 2014.

The Catalonia-native previously had a spell with Wigan Athletic, alongside stints at Alcorcon, Celta Vigo and Cordoba after progressing through La Masia.

"We are very excited to have a player of Oriol's calibre join us for the next two seasons," Wanderers owner John Tsatsimas is quoted as saying by ESPN.

"Oriol has an exceptional pedigree and will no doubt enhance our playing strength and provides us with a great platform to be serious contenders at the business end of the season."

Riera played a total of 43 top flight appearances for the Galicians.
