Sevilla confirm Foxes Iborra deal

Sevilla have confirmed they have reached an agreement in principle with Leicester City for the sale of club captain Vicente Iborra.

The 29-year-old midfielder joined the Andalucians from Levante in 2013 and has gone on to make 172 appearances for the club, playing an integral role in three Europa League successes.

Known as a tenacious and powerful player with leadership qualities, Iborra was close to a move to Sunderland last season before negotiations stalled while West Ham, West Brom and Watford were reportedly interested in a deal this summer.

However, it appears the Foxes – who knocked Los Rojiblancos out of this season’s Champions League – will complete a deal, which is said to be in the region of €12m.

In a statement on their website, Sevilla confirmed once the transfer was complete, Iborra would return to the city to bid farewell to the club’s fans.
