Official: Betis sign Tello

Real Betis have announced the signing of forward Cristian Tello from Barcelona for a reported €5m.

Tello has agreed a five-year contract with Betis and is expected to undergo a medical on Monday, before formalising his transfer.

Marca claims the Andalusians will pay €4m up front and a further million in variables, while Barca have reserved the right to a percentage of a future sale.

“Very happy and excited to start this new spell at Betis,” tweeted the ex-Fiorentina loanee.

“Thank you for all the faith. [I have] a lot of desire to play again in La Liga.”

The 25-year-old scored 20 goals in 86 appearances for the Catalans between 2012 and 2014, under Coaches Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova, and picked up a Spain cap in 2013.

However, he was jettisoned by Luis Enrique and had mixed spells with Porto and Fiorentina.

Tello becomes Betis’ third summer signing after Sergio Leon and Victor Camarasa, while a deal for Middlesbrough defender Antonio Barragan is confirmed to be close.
