Barca’s ‘Plan B’ for Prem duo

Barcelona will shift their attention to Leicester's Riyad Mahrez and Manchester United’s Ander Herrera should they fail to sign Marco Verratti, say reports.

According to Diario Sport, the two would cost a combined €75m in transfer fees which would represent a significantly more modest outlay than the €100m Paris Saint-Germain are said to be demanding for the Italian midfielder.

Verratti has reportedly informed both clubs he wishes to join the Camp Nou this summer but the Parisians are adamant the 24-year-old will not be sold at any price.

Sport previously reported Barca attempted to sign Mahrez last summer but the then English champions deemed him 'non-transferrable'.

The Catalans reportedly like Mahrez’s speed and trickery on the wing, believing he is adaptable to new surroundings and the finances of any such deal would not present a problem.

Coach Ernesto Valverde is reportedly keen to link up with United’s Herrera, who he previously coached at Athletic Bilbao, but the Red Devils would be reluctant to sell the midfielder who is reportedly very happy at Old Trafford.
