Muriel ‘an interesting player’ – Castro

Sevilla president Jose Castro has called Sampdoria striker Luis Muriel ‘an interesting player’ but appeared to rule out a move for Stevan Jovetic.

Speaking after the signing of midfielder Ever Banega, a number of targets were discussed including Jovetic, who spent four months on loan at Los Rojiblancos and Jesus Navas.

“Banega? He had his beat seasons with us and we are happy he has returned,” Castro is quoted as saying by Estadio Deportivo.

“His signing is a declaration of intent and he will strengthen our squad, we hope that more signings will follow.

“We’re working on our primary targets and he was definitely one of those. It’s like that for Luis Muriel [too], he’s an interesting player.

“Stevan Jovetic? It’s not something we can exclude yet, but we have a pre-defined budget and it’s hard to bring the Montenegrin here [permanently].

“If any club wants Vitolo they will have to pay his clause, we want him and Steven N’Zonzi to stay.

“We have no further news on Jesus Navas but we are working on a deal.”
