Tello ‘very close’ to Betis

Real Betis are set to complete the signing of Barcelona winger Cristian Tello after extensive talks between the two clubs, say reports in Spain.

According to Marca, the 25-year-old has turned down more lucrative financial offers from Zenit St Petersburg and Fiorentina – where he has spent the last two seasons on loan – to return to La Liga.

New Betis vice president Lorenzo Serra Ferrer is said to have been vital in concluding the deal due to his links at the Camp Nou, with the Blaugrana keen to move fringe players on in permanently to raise funds.

The report in Marca does not mention the financial arrangement for the deal but it is speculated he will be valued at €6-8m.

Tello has previously made 57 La Liga appearances for Barcelona but has spent the past three seasons on loan at FC Porto before joining Fiorentina in Serie A.

Betis have already signed Osasuna striker Sergio Leon this summer while moves for Levante midfielder Victor Camarasa and Middlesbrough full back Antonio Barragan are said to be close.
