Saul treble sets up final

Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez netted a hat-trick as Spain defeated Italy to set up Friday’s Under 21 European Championship final against Germany.

The 22-year-old’s well-placed left-footed finish from the edge of the box gave La Rojita the lead eight minutes after the break, before Italy’s Roberto Gagliardini was dismissed five minutes later.

Federico Bernardeschi's deflected effort leveled things up for the Azzurri just after the hour mark but Saul restored Spain's advantage with a rasping 30-yard drive three minutes later.

The Atleti midfielder completed his hat-trick fifteen minutes from time when he swept home first-time from Marco Asensio’s cross.

Albert Celades’ side will now face Germany, who had earlier defeated England, in Friday’s showpiece.
