Chelsea ‘in lead’ for Vitolo

Chelsea are now favourites to sign Sevilla winger Vitolo and are prepared to offer players in exchange for the Spain international winger, say reports.

Marca journalist Alberto Fernandez, a renowned source close to the Andalucian club, say they are expecting to receive an offer imminently from the Premier League champions.

Fernandez states central defender Kurt Zouma and striker Michy Batshuayi could both move to Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan as part of a deal which would take 27-year-old Vitolo to London.

Atletico Madrid were heavily linked with a move for Vitolo and had reportedly agreed an ambitious move which would have seen the winger join former club Las Palmas on a temporary loan deal before moving to Los Rojiblancos in January for registration purposes.

Earlier reports in Marca, Diario AS and Estadio Deportivo verified the interest from Stamford Bridge with Sevilla keen to ensure the player goes abroad rather than to a direct La Liga rival.

Vitolo has a €40m release clause at Eduardo Berizzo’s side, but the club are said to be willing to negotiate this down significantly should Zouma, Batshuayi or both arrive from London – although it is not known if these deals would be temporary or permanent.
