Real Betis are close to making Real Sociedad midfielder Sergio Canales their second signing of the summer, say reports in Spain.
According to Diario AS, the 26-year-old has been one of Quique Setien’s primary transfer targets this summer due to his technical and passing qualities.
Canales started only seven La Liga matches last season – appearing off the bench on 24 occasions – and first-team opportunities will be even more limited next season with the return of Ruben Pardo from his loan spell at Betis.
The report states the Seville-based club are open to an initial season-long loan deal for the midfielder, potentially with an option to purchase, with the Basque club open to such a move for around €3m.
Betis have already completed the signing of Osasuna striker Sergio Leon this summer.
