Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu is set to join Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon after completing a medical on Monday, say reports.
AS picked up on reports in Portuguese outlet A Bola that the 33-year-old flew into the Portuguese capital earlier on Monday ahead of the potential move.
Matieu, who played just 16 times for the Blaugrana last season, was also said to have offers from Fenerbahce and Marseille but has chosen a move to Estadio Jose Alvalade.
The French defender is not in Ernesto Valverde’s plans at the Camp Nou and it is yet unclear if the club will demand a transfer fee or will sanction a free transfer.
Earlier this month, the Catalan club confirmed the permanent signing of Brazilian central defender Marlon.
