Ronaldo: I’m leaving Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly informed his Portugal teammates that “there’s no turning back” on his decision to leave Real Madrid.

The football world was stunned on Friday, when the Portuguese Press broke the news that Ronaldo had made an ‘irreversible decision’ to leave Madrid in light of the tax fraud allegations being levelled against him by the Spanish state.

“I’m leaving Madrid, I’m determined. There’s no turning back,” he was quoted as telling his Selecao teammates by Marca and AS.

The attacker is currently in Russia representing Portugal at the Confederations Cup, which kicks off on Saturday.

Marca also believes the decision is “final”, despite Los Blancos’ pleas for the superstar to wait a fortnight, when “normality can be brought back to the situation”, as he feels “mistreated” in Spain.

Mundo Deportivo, meanwhile, claims the No 7 was disappointed by “the little support” he received from Los Blancos during his “mess” with Hacienda.

AS stresses Madrid have “no intention of letting their marquee player go”, but Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have already been installed as the 32-year-old’s likeliest destinations.

Although Ronaldo has a €1bn release clause, Marca, Gazzetta dello Sport and the like are floating figures of €400m – which includes wages – for suitors.
