Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has hinted Chelsea’s Diego Costa may join the club this summer but insisted it was the striker’s decision.

The 28-year-old striker hinted earlier this week he would be open to the idea of rejoining Los Rojiblancos this summer and being temporarily loaned out until January to avoid the FIFA transfer registration ban.

"He is the one that has to say and decide," Cerezo told Cadena Ser when asked of Costa’s situation.

"Costa is a Chelsea player and we can't even say that we are interested. What I can say is that we are in a situation [transfer ban] where we are working for the future."

The Spain international netted 43 goals in 94 La Liga outings for Atletico before Chelsea triggered his £32m buyout clause in the summer of 2014.
