Isco enjoying fine form

Real Madrid playmaker Isco expressed his joy at maintaining his strong run of form to help Spain defeat Macedonia on Sunday night.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a prolonged run in Madrid’s first team in the run-in to the campaign and was hugely influential in both La Liga and Champions League victories, now transmitting that form to the national team.

"I'm happy because of the confidence of the Coach," Isco told Teledeporte after Spain’s 2-1 victory.

"I think any of us who plays can write the headlines, we're content with the three points because that is what we were looking for.

"I have finished the season very well, and confidence is key for anyone, now we need to rest as the season has been very long.

"I think the game against Italy is going to be the most important match in the group, but we play at home, so I hope the Bernabeu is a stronghold."
