Tiago Mendes is reportedly set to stay at Atletico Madrid in a non-playing capacity, as a consultant to Diego Simeone’s coaching staff.
According to Marca, Tiago will hang up his boots this summer after being convinced by Simeone to become part of Atleti’s advisory staff to the first team.
It comes just a matter of weeks after the 36-year-old suggested he would leave Los Colchoneros but continue playing elsewhere.
The midfielder won a La Liga title and Copa del Rey with Atleti but broke his leg in November 2015 and has made just 15 appearances since then.
