Napoli defender Raul Albiol has rejected the chance to return to La Liga after turning down the opportunity to join Espanyol, say reports.
According to Rai, Quique Sanchez Flores was extremely keen on pursuing the former Valencia and Real Madrid defender with the Catalans willing to trigger his release clause with the Partenopei.
Albiol has made 129 Serie A appearances for the Naples club since joining in 2013, playing a vital role in helping them secure a top three league finish and a Champions League last 16 appearance.
However, the report states he is perfectly happy to continue in Italy and had no great enthusiasm to join Espanyol.
