Vitolo to Atleti, via Las Palmas?

Atletico Madrid are set to trigger Sevilla winger Vitolo’s €40m release clause this summer but will loan him to Las Palmas until January, say reports.

According to AS and Cadena Cope, Atleti are keen to push on with their transfer plans despite failing to lift their FIFA ban on registering new players until January 2018.

Rules state that new players would not even be allowed to train with Diego Simeone’s men until 2018 so Los Rojiblancos have drawn up Plan B to obtain their key transfer target.

Las Palmas would be entitled to 12.5% of the winger’s sell-on fee following his move to Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan in 2013, and the 27-year-old is reportedly open to a temporary return to his hometown club – who’s loan fee would be wiped out by the sell-on clause.

Should this complicated deal fall through, Atleti are also reportedly considering giving Vitolo the necessary funds to buyout his current deal and join Las Palmas temporarily.
