United think about Bale – report

Manchester United are confident of signing Gareth Bale this summer amid doubts about his long-term future at Real Madrid, say reports in Spain.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, the Welshman will miss out on a starting berth for Los Blancos in next month’s Champions League final against Juventus, paving the way for a deal this summer.

The 27-year-old has reportedly told Zinedine Zidane he is fit and ready to start against the Italian champions, but reports state that Karim Benzema and Isco will be preferred to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in attack.

Injury problems have hampered the former Tottenham star’s campaign at the Bernabeu this season, along with Isco’s strong form and the emergence of talented Marco Asensio.

Bale has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford right from his transfer to Spain in the summer of 2013, but with first-team opportunities no longer guaranteed at Madrid, a move may now be feasible.
