Ter Stegen signs new Barca deal

Goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has signed a new Barcelona contract to tie him down to the Catalan club until 2022, it has been confirmed.

The 25-year-old’s previous deal was set to expire in June 2019 but both the player and club had recently expressed a desire to extend the deal, which has been announced this week.

"FC Barcelona have reached an agreement with the player Marc-Andre ter Stegen to extend and improve his contract until 30 June 2022,” read a Barcelona statement.

"His buyout clause now stands at €180,, and his new contract will be signed on Tuesday."

After two seasons of deputising for Claudio Bravo, the German has finally established himself in Barca’s first team after signing from Borussia Monchengladbach for €12m in 2014.
