Atleti won’t go big for Costa – report

Atletico Madrid would only be prepared to pay a fraction of the price for Chelsea striker Diego Costa compared to Chinese suitors, it is reported.

The Spanish international stated over the weekend he would only leave Stamford Bridge for Diego Simeone’s side, but reports in The Independent state Atleti would not pay more €25m for the striker – around a third of touted prices from the Chinese Super League.

That is a price Los Rojiblancos ‘would consider reasonable’ and the report adds such a deal is unlikely especially with the Madrid club already lining up moves for Alexandre Lacazette and Sandro Ramirez if their summer transfer ban is lifted.

Costa netted 64 times for Atleti over three seasons for the club before he joined Chelsea in 2014, where he has since won two Premier League titles.
