Espanyol make Lopez deal permanent

Espanyol have completed a permanent deal for goalkeeper Diego Lopez (pictured left) from Italian side Milan, the Catalan club have confirmed.

The 35-year-old moved to the RCDE Stadium on an initial season-long loan deal last summer and quickly establishing himself as the club’s number one, making 35 La Liga appearances.

“Diego Lopez and RCD Espanyol have reached an agreement to definitely transfer the Galician to the first team,” read an Espanyol statement.

“This confirms the permanent transfer of Diego Lopez from AC Milan. The goalkeeper has signed with Espanyol until June 30, 2020 and will have a buyout clause of €50m.”

Lopez left the Rossoneri initially due to losing his place in the side to teenage sensation Gianluigi Donnarumma.
