Marcelino ‘excited’ for Valencia challenge

New Valencia Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral has spoken of the ‘very exciting challenge’ which he believes lies in wait at the Mestalla.

The 51-year-old has penned a two-year deal with Los Che after his surprise dismissal from Villarreal in August 2016 and will aim to bring stability to the club.

“The desire to win must bring us together and together we will be stronger,” Marcelino told his unveiling press conference.

“I like order, discipline and commitment – without these demands and necessary ambition it will be impossible to get positive results.

“Transfer targets? We will assess all positions for the squad and we will come to a consensus where solutions are necessary.

“The aim is to build a squad packed with both quality and ambition with balance – both disciplined and ordered in defence, and dynamic in attack.

“This is a very exciting challenge for us, of course there will be difficulties but we will seek to find the best solutions to overcome them.”

Valencia finished 12th in La Liga in a disappointing campaign which saw three permanent managers come and go ahead of Marcelino’s arrival.
