Koke to sign long-term Atleti deal

Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke is set to commit his long-term future to the club by putting pen to paper on a new contract, say reports.

According to Marca, the 25-year-old is eager to extend his contract – which currently expires in June 2019 – at Los Rojiblancos, with agent with agent Inaki Ispizua supposedly keen to conclude the deal swiftly.

The report suggests the new deal will last until either 2021 or 2022 and will include a ‘significant’ pay increase and a higher release clause included.

Koke has already notched up 323 appearances for Atleti since making his debut in 2009 as a teenager and also winning 32 caps for Spain.

The central midfielder was reportedly on the verge of a transfer to Malaga ahead of Diego Simeone’s arrival in 2011, but the Argentine Coach has made him an integral part of his side since.
