Tremoulinas confirms Sevilla departure

French full-back Benoit Tremoulinas has announced he is leaving Sevilla at the end of the season in an open letter to the club’s fans.

The 31-year-old did not play for Los Rojiblancos this campaign due to a long-term knee injury but he won two Europa League titles in a three-year spell at Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan.

The French defender spent six years at Bordeaux before spells at Dynamo Kiev and Saint-Etienne before joining the Andalucians.

“Friends and supporters of Sevilla, it is time for me to leave Sevilla FC,” wrote Tremoulinas in the open letter on the club’s website.

“This third year at the club has been difficult due to my knee injury, but I'll never forget my first two seasons with our two triumphs in the Europa League.

“I've discovered an exceptional city here, with an incredible stadium and fantastic supporters like the Biris Norte, here are people with great modesty and generosity.

“I want to thank the club and everyone who works there who have supported me through good and bad times. I'd also like to thank the medical team and the coaching staff.

“I'd like to thank Monchi and Unai Emery, who helped me reach a higher level in my career. A mention for my teammates, who are all fantastic without exception, and Jorge Sampaoli's staff, with whom I would have liked to work with more.

“To finish, I would like to wish the best of luck to Oscar Arias.”
