Maldini thought about joining Madrid

Former AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini has revealed the only other club he would have considered playing for would be Real Madrid.

Maldini spent the entirety of his incredible 24-year career at the San Siro, amassing over 900 apperances for the Rossoneri, winning seven Serie A titles and five Champions League crowns.

"If I'd had to play for another club, it would have been Real Madrid,” Maldini replied when asked in an interview with RMC Sport.

“To me, it always seemed Madrid were the club who were most similar to Milan and I would have enjoyed playing there.”

The now 48-year-old hung up his boots in 2009 and has recently been linked with a return to the Milanese club.
