Al-Thani fined for ‘Barca scum’ remark

Malaga president Abdullah Al-Thani has been handed a €3,500 fine by Spain's anti-violence commission after referring to Barcelona as "Catalan scum."

The Catalan club reported the Costa del Sol club’s owner to the Spanish Football Federation's Competition Committee, La Liga's Department of Integrity and Spain's anti-violence commission for the comments.

Al-Thani's took to twitter to write (originally in Arabic): "God willing [Real Madrid] will get beaten by us, but the Catalan scum will not get a whiff of the title after the lies they spread about [Malaga coach] Michel."

It had been in response to a fan who had joked that Los Boquerones would let Madrid defeat them at the end of the season to prevent Barca from winning the league.

Former Los Blancos player Michel will welcome Zinedine Zidane's side to La Rosaleda on the final day of the league season, in a match which could decide La Liga’s title race.
