Las Palmas ‘advanced’ Balotelli talks

Las Palmas are in ‘advanced negotiations’ to complete the signing of Nice striker Mario Balotelli on a free transfer, according to reports in Spain.

Cope Canarias journalist Juan Francisco Cruz, who works closely with the Gran Canarian club, reports Los Amarillos have offered a one-year contract to the Italian international with the option of another.

Previous reports in Cope had reported a deal could be possible due to the 26-year-old’s close friendship with Las Palmas star Kevin-Prince Boateng, whom he played with at AC Milan.

Balotelli’s one-year deal at Ligue 1 club Nice – whom he joined last summer – expires at the end of June and he would be available on a free transfer.

The former Manchester City and Liverpool striker has thrived for Les Aiglons, netting 17 goals in 27 appearances and propelling an unlikely title charge, but is expected to move on in the summer.
