Preview: Depor-Espanyol

Deportivo La Coruna can finally guarantee their place in La Liga next season if they avoid defeat to a similarly-misfiring Espanyol on Sunday.

Deportivo La Coruna boss Pepe Mel on letting the fans down: “Since beating Malaga, we’ve only picked up a point at Osasuna, so it’s understandable that the fans are disappointed.

“Therefore, we have an important game against Espanyol to return the favour. This is a good opportunity for that.”

Espanyol boss Quique Sanchez Flores on the future: “We’re not [chef Karlos] Arguinano, but things smell good here.

“They look good and we feel very clear about where we’re going and what we want.

“We smile when we think about the future of our team. We do it while thinking about the fans, not ourselves, and what we need to make our fans’ dreams come true.”
