Toni Kroos admitted Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory over Atletico was ‘more than we expected’ but is wary of a second leg comeback.
A hat-trick from Cristiano Ronaldo propelled Zinedine Zidane’s side to a comfortable first leg victory at the Bernabeu before the return leg at Vicente Calderon a week on Wednedsay.
“It’s a very good result. It’s more than we expected it’s a great game, a great result but it’s only the first leg,” Kroos is quoted as saying by UEFA.com.
“We had a very good day. We used good tactics and had an extra man in midfield.
“Normally we play with three but today we used four and it allowed us to control the game.
“We deserved the win but we still have to go to the Calderon.
“It’s great to have a player like Ronaldo of course.
“You can defend well, you can control the midfield but you still need someone to score goals. He does that for us every time.”
