Leganes failed to move further clear of Sporting Gijon and the relegation zone as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at eighth-placed Eibar.
Victory for Leganes would have taken them nine points clear of 18th-placed Sporting Gijon with three games left, but two goals in five minutes for Eibar decided the game.
Former Middlesbrough striker Kike broke the deadlock with a 62nd minute header before Sergi Enrich found the bottom corner four minutes later to seal the victory for the Basques.
Next up for Lega sees them host Real Betis at Butarque on Monday 8 May, while Eibar travel to the Vicente Calderon on Saturday to take on third-placed Atletico Madrid.
