Sevilla ‘contacts’ on Navas

Sevilla have started ‘contacts’ with Manchester City over a return for winger Jesus Navas, the club’s president has confirmed.

The 31-year-old is set to leave the Etihad this summer and has been linked with a return to Los Rojiblancos, whom he departed for Manchester four years ago.

"No negotiations have started, but there have been contacts," Castro confirmed to the club’s official website.

The Sevilla youth product spent a decade in the first-team squad at Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan, making 388 appearances, and Oscar Arias – the new sporting director at the Europa League holders – has refused to rule out a move.

Arias explained on Sevilla’s website: "He is a first-class player who would be a very interesting option as he is a Sevillista, he is from Seville and he is an elite player. We shall see what happens."
