Vallejo could miss rest of season

Defender Jesus Vallejo, on loan from Real Madrid, could miss the remainder of the season for Eintracht Frankfurt due to a tendon injury.

The 20-year-old has made 25 appearances for the Bundesliga club this season, earning rave reviews, with all parties reportedly hopeful of agreeing a one-year extension to the loan deal over the summer.

"The Spaniard sustained a muscle tendon injury in his left thigh. It is not clear whether he can return to the pitch this season,” read an Eintracht Frankfurt statement on their website.

Sporting director Bruno Hubner added: "this is another setback during the important run-in.

"Of course it's difficult to replace Jesus, but we wish him a full and speedy recovery and it's our hope that we can see him in the Frankfurt jersey again."
