Real Madrid have rejected a €50m offer from Liverpool for highly-rated attacker Marco Asensio, according to reports in Spain.
AS and Cadena Cope both state report the Merseyside Reds had hoped to land the coveted 21-year-old next summer but Los Blancos are not going to consider any bids for the player they signed from Real Mallorca for €4m in January 2015.
Having played on loan at Espanyol last season, Asensio has blossomed under Zinedine Zidane this season – netting nine goals in 29 appearances, including in Tuesday’s 4-2 victory over Bayern Munich at the Bernabeu.
This season has also seen the Mallorca-native capped twice by the Spanish national side and seen him score in the European Super Cup against Sevilla, along with his debuts in La Liga and the Champions League.
