Isco hints at Madrid renewal

Isco has dropped his biggest hint yet that he will sign a new contract with Real Madrid. “I want to stay at the best team in the world for many more years.”

Isco gave one of his finest performances in a Madrid shirt on Saturday as his pair of strikes secured Madrid a 3-2 comeback victory over Sporting Gijon, and the midfielder slammed the “bigmouths” that suggested he was unhappy in the capital.

“I didn’t celebrate my first goal much because we’d been losing and it drew the game, but I celebrated the second as it deserved,” he said after the game.

“Controversy? There are a lot of bigmouths out there, but I do my talking on the pitch, where I try to do the best I can for the team. I talk very little and try to do my job with a lot of professionalism.

“My future? I’ve always made it clear that I want to be here for many years. I don’t know why it surprises people that I want to play more.

“If I didn’t think I deserved to, I wouldn’t say it. I want to stay at Madrid and I want to stay with them for many more years. Both the club and I are going to make the right decision.

“A substitute? Zidane picks the team and is managing the squad in an extraordinary way.

“It’s a sign that he’s doing things very well. I know that I’m at the best team in the world, and I try to do my job with a lot of character.”
