Preview: Las Palmas-Betis

Two of La Liga’s most off-form sides in Las Palmas and Real Betis take to Gran Canaria on Sunday evening.

Las Palmas have lost both of their games since Coach Quique Setien announced he would step down at the end of the season, but the departing 58-year-old said at a Press conference that he would honour the remainder of his contract.

“The President has told me that no matter what happens, I will continue until the end of the season,” he asserted.

“You shouldn’t have to doubt my involvement and attitude.”

President Miguel Angel Ramirez confirmed earlier in the week that the islanders already had a replacement lined up.

Their opponents Betis are also reportedly considering a change of Coach, with Victor Sanchez guiding the Andalusians to just two League wins out of a possible 13 in 2017 and as many defeats in their last two games.

“This week, we had the usual meetings with the players and we also had a meeting with the President [Angel Haro],” stated the former Deportivo La Coruna boss.

“The message is the same, to give them that extra little push to win and improve their collective performance.”
