Soler Valencia’s hero in dramatic win

Carlos Soler’s wonderful chipped goal with four minutes from time sealed a pulsating victory for Valencia at home to Celta Vigo.

Voro’s side extended their unbeaten stretch at Mestalla to six matches although they did appear to be on the verge of dropping more points after Iago Aspas had levelled proceedings from the spot with ten minutes remaining after being felled by Soler.

However, the 20-year-old went from villain to hero as his perfectly timed lob over Sergio Alvarez – only his third goal in professional football – earned the three points.

Gustavo Cabral’s 16th-minute header had given the Galicians the lead before incisive team moves from the hosts were finished by Dani Parejo and Munir El Haddadi to give them a deserved lead.

Despite Aspas netting his 16th league goal of the campaign it wasn’t enough for Celta who slip to 10th, while Valencia’s continued improved form sees them climb to 12th
