Granada sign teenage Brazilian

Granada have won the race to sign highly-rated Brazilian forward Caio Emerson from Corinthians, the club have confirmed.

The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in South America and is reported to have been a long-term target of Barcelona, alongside English trio Everton, Liverpool and Manchester City.

“I am very happy to join Granada,” Emerson is quoted as saying by Marca.

“I am in a big city and in a club that provides me with all the facilities that I need for me to continue to develop my career and keep growing."

The forward has not played for Corinthians since May 2016 due to a long-running contractual dispute between his representatives and the club, leading to his contract running down and moving to El Grana, who will reportedly have to pay in the region of €300,000.

He is confirmed as Granada's first signing ahead of next season, which may yet be in the second flight of Spanish football.
