Berizzo: Aim is top six

Celta Vigo Coach Eduardo Berizzo insists his side are still aiming for a top six finish to guarantee European football next season.

The Galicians currently are languishing in 11th in the standings but a win over Las Palmas on Monday evening would take them to within seven points of 6th-placed Villarreal with nine matches remaining.

“We have to keep pushing to try and break into the top six,” Berizzo is quoted as saying by Marca ahead of the clash.

“We have three very important games – Las Palmas, Valencia and Eibar – where we owe a lot to our fans but to do that we will need to play well.

"The team are in good physical shape and our football recently has been good but we must keep working to improve.”

Celta could qualify for the Champions League by winning this season’s Europa League, or they would re-qualify for the Europa League if they finished 7th and a Spanish club won this season’s Champions League.
