Hazard Madrid’s next Galactico?

Chelsea ace Eden Hazard will reportedly be Real Madrid’s Galactico target this summer, as per Zinedine Zidane’s instructions.

According to Marca, Zidane is desperate for Madrid not to miss out on Hazard a third time, having instructed the club to sign the attacker from Lille in 2012, while the 26-year-old opted against a move away last summer.

The newspaper notes Florentino Perez has yet to make a decision on which marquee player Los Blancos will go for, although the Belgian is likeliest at this stage.

Head of recruitment Juni Calafat was at Stamford Bridge a fortnight ago to watch Hazard in action as Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 in the FA Cup.

The diminutive forward is also said to have begun learning Spanish, interpreted as a sign that he is preparing for a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Chelsea have been linked with Madrid pair James Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata, possibly opening the door to a swap deal.

However, Hazard would command a ‘crack’ contract that rivals those of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, given he currently earns €10m a year and is in line to do so until 2020.
