Preview: Betis-Osasuna

Two of La Liga’s most off-form sides do battle at Benito Villamarin on Saturday, where Real Betis host all-but-relegated Osasuna.

Victor was confirmed as Betis’ Coach for next season by sporting director Miguel Torrecilla, despite just one win in 10 matches and the fans’ patience beginning to thin.

However, Torrecilla noted “the rival opposition we will face” before the end of the season as a cause for optimism, likely a reference to Osasuna, who are 14 points adrift at the bottom.

“Being confirmed by Torrecilla for next season? That doesn’t come as a surprise to me because we’ve worked with maximum confidence and collaboration since our first day together,” said the former Deportivo La Coruna boss.

“What the Coach must focus on is the sporting aspect and, right now, the Osasuna match. That’s our objective, these three points.”

Osasuna picked up their first point in two months last weekend, against European challengers Eibar, but with the likes of Leganes and Deportivo La Coruna hitting form of late, boss Petar Vasiljevic admitted only victories would do going forward.

“A point is not worth anything to us,” added the Serb.

“Betis are a team that press a lot and also like having the ball, although at home they have more needs and are under more pressure.”
