Victor to remain Betis Coach

Real Betis sporting director Miguel Torrecilla has confirmed Victor Sanchez will be Coach of the club going into the new season.

Sanchez has won only one of his last ten matches in charge of Los Verdiblancos, who remain 14th in the standings and with fans patience thinning due to continued poor results, but Torrecilla gave him his backing while also stating new deals for Dani Ceballos and Antonio Adan were being worked on.

“Victor Sanchez del Amo will be manager of Betis for the 2017/18 season,” Torrecilla told reporters at a press event on Thursday morning.

“The Coach has displayed the qualities we seeked when appointing him and we are happy with the progression of the team.

“It is clear we are not in the place we want to be right now in terms of our league position, but I’m very optimistic ahead of the final third of the season due to the rival opposition we will face and our recent performances.

“If you ask Beticos if they’d rather be in the top ten with nothing to look forward to and worried, or in our current position then things do not look bad.

“I don’t see our style of play as defensive, I believe it 3-5-2 rather than 5-3-2, I believe our performances merit much better results than they have done.

“Dani Ceballos? We want to renew his deal and increase it, we’ve held a positive meeting to show him our intentions and hopefully we can conclude that.

“Antonio Adan? We are further along with him in terms of renewing a deal and that is something that should be announced soon.

“Our signings? I believe many have enjoyed a much better recent few months than the start of the season, it is natural they take time to adapt.

“We will once again use both the national and international markets but Spanish clubs are not keen to sell.”
