Pique: Message to the critics…

Gerard Pique hit out at Barcelona’s critics after they stunned Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday. “This team haven’t said their last word yet…”

Speaking after Barca’s historic comeback against PSG in the Champions League last 16, Pique claimed people “wanted to bury us” and told veteran Coaches Raymond Domenech and Arrigo Sacchi “to remember their words” after their criticism of the Blaugrana.

“A feat like tonight’s has never been seen at this club before,” began the defender.

“You can talk about the three goals of Pichi Alonso against Goteborg or the feat that [Jose Maria] Bakero achieved, but what we’ve experienced here is incomparable.

“There are people who wanted to bury us, but this team haven’t said their last word yet. To those who didn’t believe, believe again.

“To our rivals, I tell them that they’re going to have a bad night, but tomorrow the sun will rise again. I also tell [Raymond] Domenech and [Arrigo] Sacchi to remember their words.

“Luis Enrique? In these types of games, we’ve shown to do things well and that we go out to play in an organised manner.

“Cavani’s goal was a very big blow and there were a few difficult minutes for us, but the miracle happened.

“The treble? A month ago, no-one believed it was possible so we still don’t want to carry that burden.

“We’re the only ones in this country that have achieved it, but not every year you can. We’ll compete on all fronts but take things step by step.

“The fans? A few years ago they would’ve left the stadium on 87 minutes, but this team made them stay and believe. That’s something very special for the club.”
