Loan means I won’t play – Pardo

Ruben Pardo has explained he won’t play for Real Betis against his parent club Real Sociedad on Friday night as it was a clause agreed in the loan deal.

The 24-year-old joined Los Verdiblancos on loan for the remainder of the season from La Real at the end of January, but will play no part as the two go head-to-head at Estadio Benito Villamarin.

“All players want to play every game…so it is a very unique situation where this will not be the case for me,” Pardo explained to Estadio Deportivo.

“Yes it is true that this would have been a little strange for me because I have a big place in my heart and career for both clubs, but right now I am defending the Betis shirt, I am playing for Betis, and this is football.

“La Real decided that the best thing was that I did not play this game when we negotiated the transfer and it is something that I accepted. It can no longer be changed, and that is fine.

“It is very difficult for the team to prepare for this game only three days after Malaga – we’ve had one training session but also focused on recovery and watching videos, but we know how Real Sociedad will play.”
