Madrid complain to La Liga on TV bias

Real Madrid are set to formally complain to La Liga and its president Javier Tebas over alleged bias against the club in televised matches.

The Jugones programme on La Sexta TV report that Sunday’s victory at Villarreal was the tipping point, as TV directors decided to focus attention on Madrid’s equalising penalty at Estadio Ceramica but did not show a camera angle which appeared to suggest Villarreal striker Cedric Bakambu was offside when putting the hosts 2-0 ahead.

The image of the Congolese striker is the focus on the front page of Tuesday’s edition of AS with the headline ‘This is the image that wasn’t broadcast’, which was allegedly shown by BeIn Sports in the United States but not by Spanish broadcasters at the same company.

Officials at the Bernabeu have reportedly presented their case to La Liga which includes a document outlining various matches where they believe coverage has been biased against the club.
