Voro ‘upset’ by Alaves comeback

Voro Gonzalez admitted Valencia “were upset” to have lost 2-1 to Alaves on Saturday as “we made a great effort”.

Late goals from Ibai Gomez and Aleksandar Katai cancelled out Carlos Soler’s opener for Valencia to end Los Che’s run of wins, but Voro insisted his side’s failings were not down to a lack of concentration.

“We’re upset because we made a great effort, given the circumstances,” the Coach said after the match.

“It was a shame not to have won the prize [of three points] with the effort we put in.

“You have to be focused at all times as small details can count against you.

“The first goal came from Abdennour’s clearance, although I didn’t see it as a lapse in concentration.

“The second seemed a clear offside, but it also seemed that it wasn’t so.

“We have to improve, although I don’t think the team aren’t focused. As we put ourselves ahead and still lost, it seems that everything’s bad, but it’s not the case.

“Alaves took advantage of balls that, in theory, shouldn’t have been a problem.”
