Cazorla ruled out for season

Arsenal have been dealt a massive blow as influential midfielder Santi Cazorla has been ruled out of the remainder of the campaign due to his ankle injury.

The 32-year-old has not played since limping off in the Gunners win over Ludogorets in October with an Achilles injury but he was ruled out for a further three months as he required surgery in December.

However, Arsene Wenger now knows he won't have the playmaker available until next season as recurring fitness issues and setbacks have ruled him back yet further.

However, some positive news for Arsenal fans is that the former Malaga player has activated a one-year extension in his contract which will ward off interest from La Liga, where several clubs have been reportedly interested.
