Eusebio signs new La Real deal

Real Sociedad Coach Eusebio Sacristan has agreed a new contract which will see him remain in San Sebastian until June 2019.

The 52-year-old was appointed as manager of the Basque club in November 2015 as he replaced David Moyes, having previously coached Barcelona B for four seasons.

“I identify strongly with this club and I am delighted to be working with these players for another two years,” Eusebio told the club’s official TV channel.

“I’m very happy and very grateful and filled with responsibility.”

La Real finished ninth in La Liga last season while they currently sit fifth in the standings with 41 points from 23 games – four points adrift of the Champions League places.

Eusebio had previously been linked with a return to Camp Nou as a possible replacement for Luis Enrique, although any chance of that move happening this year appear to have been dashed with the contract renewal.

The manager has overseen 58 official games, with a return of 26 wins, 11 draws and 21 defeats in that spell.
